My Birthday!!

Officially 21!

Accessorize bag, ring and earrings, American Apparel skirt and scarf, Rachel Antonoff for Bass shoes, H&M blouse

Soo my lovely party people!! Yesterday was my 21st birthday! Yeah I wish I was 13 again! On the bright side though...I don't have to live in Moosburg anymore so that's better than 13!
I got my presents as soon as it turned 12..and i was pretty excited! I'm not really a christmas baby but I still kind of get the birthday/christmas present combo...luckily not this year!! Plus being in a present-high all Dezember is wonderful! Buying presents, getting presents, giving presents and getting some more presents. LOVE it.
Than of course there's the present low for the next 12 months..but hey..you can't have everything!
We'll have to do a post with all of our presents!! Perfumes and bags and watches and jewellery and all the fun things with lots of flowers and pink and well... GLITTER!
I know Steffi has something exciting to show as well,wa liebes?

My day started off with a trip to IKEA! I mean..who doesn't love a lazy day at IKEA! With a free coffee and a free piece of cake for the birthday girl!! We were just roaming around as usual and I bought what I always buy.. picture frames and candles!! Can't ever have enough of those!!
I don't really celebrate my birthdays...I get presents..see my friends...eat lots of cake and spend the day with my family..just the way I like it!! Not really party people myself!! maybe sometimes!! (When it's tequila time)

I LOVE this outfit!! It has some of my most favourite pieces of clothing at the moment all put together!! Ohh and I got this wonderful bag from Matthias' mother and I'm so in LOVE with it...I just want to hold it and stare at it all day!! Is it weird?? Am I weird? possibly!! But it's gold and shiny and I'm sort of obsessed! I have to show you my glitter/gold clothing collection sometime!!

A beautiful little Accessorize Bee Ring!! First thing I bought since I stopped working there...It was kind of tough...luckily it was on sale otherwise it would have been to much to bare!!

Oh and just one more photo of my new "possibly the coolest shoes ever"!! I have been wanting them for soo long!! They're saddle shoes from Bass and just perfect!! Not quite my size but who cares. I take what ebay gives me ...when they're sold out everywhere else!!
(This photo was taken on a fun thrift shopping day with a lovely lady called Jana! She's my go-to lady for thrifting in Vienna!! Of course my all time favourite thrift shopping lady is my wonderful mom..who well I got this crazy obsession from!)

Later on lovely Steffi came over and we ate turkey and other yummy things and spend the rest of the day talking about clothes and thrifting and new recipes... just perfect I tell ya!
My mommy made me one of my favourite cakes for my birthday and Steffi brought me a really tasty Andrea Raspberry Cake! so I got two really delicious cakes just for one birthday!
I'm a lucky lady!!

We'll be posting the baked it ourselves with a bit late this week! again!!
Because Hani just came and well...we're busy!!

love Andrea

INSPIRATION!!

The Inspiration!

My Wall!!

I love pinterest and I love new ideas for my room!!
I've had this photo wall in my room above my couch (which I will show soon)
for quite some time now but it was time to change it!
I decided to only use special photos and my self painted Botero ballerina and masking tape frames!!
Since I'm a poor student and don't have money to only depend on wonderful frames from urban outfitters
and antique markets
I found this wonderful picture on pinterest which inspired me to go out buy tape and make my very own frames (or just one).
You guys get the idea!! It's fun! And looks great!!

If your wondering why my beautiful ballerina doesn't have a face..it's because I don't like drawing faces!!
Sometimes they're necessary and I will draw/paint them but usually I don't!!

Also a wonderful way to show of your prettiest pictures!!

YOUR PERSONAL CALENDAR!

Because the world is still there, and WE ARE STILL THERE,
we need to think about what happens 2013?!
Or we at least need to think about
in what we should write our notes, dates and appointments for 2013.
(Not your phone. not cool. and easy to overlook something)
Here is the answer:
MAKE YOUR OWN CALENDAR!

To have a leitmotif i bought two very classy designed calendar.
No colours. not a special size. no pictures. just the exact dates.

I put the pages out of the book so that all of them are loose.
then i put together all the great stuff i foud in my room.
like nice photos, paper,
some old posters which i ripped of from somewhere.
i only choose pictures with natural stuff on it.
just nice ones, no people or something.
this i can do during the next year.
now it should only be a nice and cool book.
NO PAST. JUST FUTURE!

Now take one page after another and mix them up how ever you want.
Pictures in between. nice paper. posters.
Make sure that the dates are right. Always correct that while working.

Here some examples how i did it.

Some very old postcards are great for the whole thing as well.
i always buy them at fleamarkets.

Now it's about to bind your book.
everybody who knows something about that, would say:
ok if you only have loose pages,
you have to glue the whole thing now.
that's the normal way. true.
but i tried to do it like this,
because for me it looks much nicer, it's unique
and i'm pretty sure you will loose not one page of your book!

 So after bringing all together,
you have to seperate your book again.
always make a bunch of about 10-15 pages and sew them together.
i did that with my sewingmachine. it's more equable.

Now do that bunch by bunch until every page is processed.

be very clear with that and always make sure
that you sew the endings twice!

now you need needle and yarn.
put all the bunches together. IN THE RIGHT ORDER!

then sew them together.
put your thread always through one thread of a bunch and knot it.
do this about 5 times.

 then cut of the endings
so that your book is not only a sewed together bunch of paper!!!
it should look very tidy and clear.

YOU ARE NEARLY FINISHED!

If you want a stabil book cover, take some water proof leather
or some other resitant matirial,
and fix it with glue on the back of your book.

Cover or not, you need some wood glue now.
put it on the whole back of your book,
which you lately sewed together. just a thin film.
then take a paper and beat the back on the paper a few times.
so that the glue is well spreaded everywhere.

now put some heavy books on your timer and leave it about two days. to try.

We Baked It Ourselves With LOVE!! Christmas Party!

Vienna Family Christmas Dinner!

Last Tuesday we had a little christmas dinner party with our most favourite friends in Vienna. It was so wonderful!! We did one last year and it was so great and the food was delicious and we had so much fun and we decided to do it every year. Ohh but we almost forgot about it. No one started planing the party and we all kind of kept waiting for someone to say something. Weird! It's like with New Years this year. Are you in Vienna? I will be if you are! So maybe we'll all be here but also maybe not! someone has to say something or we're all doomed!! Well mostly me..since I'm from Moosburg!
Anyway we started planing on Saturday and wanted to do it on Sunday but it was all happening to fast so we moved it to Tuesday which was perfect!
Hansi was in charge of the bird and I made the side dishes with help from Matthias! Everyone brought sweets and Glüh Wein!! Ohhh and Vanessa made the most delicious Chocolate coconut cake!!
Also everyone had to bring a little present to put under our christmas tree and than everyone got to pull a number out of a hat and got a present. Just like the real thing!!

Baby girl Janni started off the night by reading a christmas story it was such a great idea! The first story he read was a bit sad with a little girl dying or something but it was still really great!!

This is Oscar!!

Look how we're all concentrating on the christmas story!!
Don't you just love this Christmas tree head piece?? I DO!! I'm so in love with it!!

This was the delicious turkey, Hansi made!! The stuffing had marzipan, apples and nuts in it..I was soo soo great!
( Matthias left it in the oven and Janni wanted to eat it yesterday and it was mouldy..hihi..and he did eat a piece before he noticed it..it was great to watch! )

As side dishes we had spanish green beans, duchess potatoes, whiskey-glazed carrots, Blaukraut and dumplings (Kartoffelknödel). The latter two were store bought!

Here you can see the spanish green beans. Really easy to make and pretty damn delicious!

Ingredients for the spanish green beans:

  • 1 whole Onion (medium)
  • 4 cans (14.5 Oz. Cans) Whole Green Beans (or 1 To 2 Poounds Fresh)
  • 2 cans (14.5 Oz.) Whole Tomatoes
  • Cayenne Pepper To Taste

Preparation Instructions

Dice 1 medium onion. Cook, stirring now and then, until the onions become glassy.
Drain the green beans and add them right into the pan with the onions. Next, throw in the two cans of whole tomatoes with their juice. Stir around gently and then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for about 45 minutes.
When they are finished cooking add cayenne pepper to taste up to about ¼ of a teaspoon for a hotter dish. Stir gently and serve!

Ingredients for the duchess potatoes

  • 2,5 kg Potatoes, Peeled And Boiled Until Fork Tender
  • 8 whole Egg Yolks
  • 1/3 Butter, Softened
  • 2 teaspoons Salt, More Or Less To Taste
  • Plenty Of Black Pepper
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg (more To Taste)
  • 1-1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 whole Egg

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lay boiled potatoes on a baking sheet and place into the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until slightly dried on the surface.
Remove the potatoes from the oven and process potatoes through a ricer or food mill. Allow to cool in a bowl for about 5 minutes. Add egg yolks, butter, a couple of generous pinches of salt, a generous pinch of pepper, a pinch of nutmeg and 3/4 cup cream. Stir with a rubber spatula to combine. Taste and make sure the potatoes have been adequately salted.
Transfer to a large pastry bag and pipe through a large star tip in a circular/upward spiral motion.
Make an egg wash by mixing 1 egg with 1/2 cup heavy cream. Lightly brush the piped potatoes with egg wash. (This is a little easier if you chill the piped potatoes for half an hour or so.)
Bake at 375 until golden brown around the edges. Serve on a pretty platter!
Make the potatoes ahead of time and store in the fridge, then bake them at the last minute! I didn't this so we kind of had some time management problems but in the end...everything turned out great and everyone loved them!!

and... the Whiskey-Glazed Carrots!!

Ingredients

  • 1/3 Butter, Divided
  • 2 pounds (to 3 Pounds) Carrots, Peeled And Cut Into Thick Circles
  • 1/2 cup Jack Daniels Or Other Whiskey
  • 3/4 cups (to 1 Cup) Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (to 1 Teaspoon) Salt
  • Freshly Ground Pepper, to taste

Preparation Instructions

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large pan over high heat. Add carrots in two batches, cooking for 60-90 seconds each batch. Remove from skillet.
Pour in whiskey and allow to evaporate 30 seconds. Reduce heat to medium, and add remaining butter. When butter melts, sprinkle brown sugar over the top. Stir together, then add carrots to skillet. Cover, and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
Remove lid and add salt and pepper. Continue cooking until carrots are done and glaze is thick, about 5 more minutes.
Pour onto a platter and serve immediately. Sprinkle with chopped chives if desired.
Stick a serving spoon in the mix, and it’s time to serve ‘em up. And oh, what a wonderful time it is. I gobbled these up ‘til I embarrassed myself.

After the delicious dinner the group split up. Part of them sat in the kitchen (Annick & Lena) and talked about exams!! (bad girls!!) and the rest of us sat in the living room and stared at the cutest little oscar wearing a hoodie!! What can I say..WE ARE PARTY PEOPLE!! wooohoo!!

But seriously look at him!! So adorable!!

Ohh and this is what the party turned into later on!! Wii and Gameboy DS!!
But they seem happy! That's all that matters, right?

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!
Tomorrow we'll show you some of our most favourite christmas outfits!! woohoo!

christmas cards!

MAKE IT!

to buy:

- some nice paper and christmas stuff,
like star sticker or like these golden trees i bought
- some colour
- scissors
- needle and yarn

1. Cut your paper into the size you want your cards.
you can make big ones for your very best friend,
your parents or just the people you love!
you can make tiny little ones
wich you can hang on your gifts as name cards,
you can make small ones for small friends.
(so i did that for lisa, but with a big HEART on it;)

2. put some colour on your cards.
as a frame or draw something however you want
you can cut something out as well.
i wrote "christmas".
ok that's not very clear to be honest.
let's say it's "cool";)

here i have special scissors. you just cut and it makes this!
just google it, so easy to order somewhere;) and cheap!

Another thing you can do is:
take your sewing machine
and make a nice seam as a frame on your card.

or sew a letter on it. it's so easy. try!
or take a needle and a thread and do it by hand.
(it's much more fun with the sewing machine)

So create your cards however you want.
these are just some suggestions how you can do it!
but you will see, when you start making your cards
the creativity will overwhelm you and your family and friends
will be moved to tears on christmas eve.
the perfect accomplishment to your gifts!

IT'S SO EASY!
JUST BE CREATIVE!

We Baked It Ourselves With LOVE: Christmas baking

PERSONALIZED BISCUITS

you need:
600g flour
250g butter
250g powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 vanilla bean /
1 package vanilla sugar
lemon

take a workplate, mix up butter and sugar, knead it.
then add the eggs, the flour and finally the vanilla and juice from a half lemon.
knead it until it's a smooth dough.
pack it with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge. for about 1 hour.

If you are not able to coast the dough after an hour,
then put it back in the fridge until its ready.
when the dough is rolled out then, take your biscuit cutter and here we go!

i found this special cutter in a tiny little shop here in town.
but i'm sure you can order it online.
It's amazing, you have the cutter and these small letters
which you can plugg in however you want.
so i made some "STYLEMINGLE", some "ANDI&STEFFI" or some "HEARTS" biscuits.
Thats SUCH A GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT!
very personal! and people wondering how you did that! and it tastes great!
PLUS CHEAP!
great great great gift!

When you finished with cutting all your biscuits put them all on baking paper and
put them in the oven for about 30 min.
If you want have your biscuits glossy you can put some mixed raw egg on it.
sounds ugly but it looks nice afterwards.
Keep an eye on the dough all the time because the time depends on how thin you rolled it!

FINISHED!
now let your selfmade biscuits cool down and think about how you want to give them away!
you can put them in a paperbag write the name on it and close it with a colourful bow.

Or you put them in a nice biscuit box and just bring it to the next christmasparty!
however you're doing it, people will be impressed and will love your present.
